Juggling Act or Relay Race

I was thinking the other day about my life and visualizing myself in a juggling act with everything that I needed to do that day. After thinking about maybe 20 things that I remembered that I forgot to do that day, I thought "is my life a juggling act or a relay race?" I came to the conclusion that my life in fact is a relay race and I am all 4 legs of the relay, constantly handing the baton to myself to complete the race. Needless to say, the race never ends and I find myself in an unending relay race. So what do you do in that situation? Some would complain others would give up and some would just deal with it get stressed out and lose their minds. Well I won't complain because I believe that all that I have in my life is a blessing. I will never give up because I am me and I just can't do that. It's not in my nature to quit. I refuse to lose my mind. So what do I do.....I stop breath and pray. I pray for strength to make it through. I pray for wisdom to make the right choices. And I pray for success and prosperity in all that I can do. I have found that prayer works in every situation. When you think that you are at your breaking point it only take a few seconds to ask God for help. He is always ready to hear you and help you. I love knowing that God is always there to hear me when I call. I know that I am not the only mom out there dealing with these issues. Whether you are married or single I know that as a Mom we have these struggles. We want to be the best for our children and we don't want them to see us fail. The best way to prevent that is through prayer.
Go Moms! (and dads too) Shel you're the best dad ever; thanks for your support

Reality Check

So lately I have come to the realization that my life is no longer about me. At one time in my life I only had to worry about taking care of me, but now I am so caught up with taking care of others that I don't even worry about me anymore, but that is something that is cool with me. I use to allow some very "colorful" language come out of my mouth and never gave it a second thought as to whether it was distasteful, arrogant, rude or hurtful, until I had a little parrot who made me realize just how colorful I sound. An occasional cuss word meant nothing to me until my little parrot repeated it not knowing that she shouldn't say it. That was the point I realized that I must change my words. Then changing my actions followed because my mini me was doing everything I did because I am mom and if mom does it then it must be right, right?!!. No it was wrong, so very wrong. So after some minor adjustments I think that we are good to go for now. But being a good example is not the end. I think as a parent it is my responsibility to also let them know right from wrong and that there are wrong influences out there. I think that as a parent it is my responsibility to teach them how to be a good example to others through their words and actions.
Some other things that we have changed is some of the things that we use such as cleaning stuff. It use to be nothing to use a cup of bleach in the laundry or use products that are full of chemicals, but then I realized that I had to make sure the kids didn't get a hold of it. So of course we became green and now we proudly use safer products. Now my mini me can actually clean along side of me using the same products. Its a win win deal! She gets to imitate me and I get help with cleaning! Go Green!
I must say that I have enjoyed my life changes. Makes me more aware of what I am doing, what I have done and what I plan to do in the future.
So I guess I can say I am part of the campaign to change my life for the betterment of my children. Join me in bringing back being a great and blessed role model for your children.

What is a blog?!

This is my first blog ever in life. I always wondered what a blog was, always heard people talking about blogging but I have never been interested. That was until I realized that I can "speak" about what I like and people can read it. How wonderful!
So right now I am a proud wife and mother of 2 daughters. I am a student in a Masters degree program to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a part time counselor in the mental health field. Needless to say my calendar is overbooked to the max! But I love it because all of these are my passions. I put my whole heart into everything that I do. I no longer dread getting up everyday to work because what I do is not work, its not a job, its my life.
I've made lots of changes in my life some easier than others, all changes were for the betterment of myself and my family. I want to be a positive role model to all that I come in contact with. But most importantly for my daughters.
I've grown in my spiritual walk with God and this has really helped me to focus on the important things in life. I have made changes to how we live also, paying more attention to what we use and living a "greener" life. (I will talk about that more in later posts). Paying more attention to the details of my life has allowed me to think clearer and focus more.

I believe that this all makes my life what it is. Absolutely, magnificently wonderfully Blessed.
I love God and the relationship that I have with Him. I give all credit to God and I thank Him for all that He has given us and all that He has taken away (its obvious that we didn't need those things anyway, it was just clutter).
If i can do it so can you!

Peace & Blessings
